Elysium Stories
Family Memorial Sculpture
Rebecca contacted us requesting a commemorative, abstract sculpture with three sections to reflect the personality of the relatives she had lost. She had seen earlier works made by Elysium Memorials incorporating stone and glass and wanted the sculpture to use the same combination.
We visited Rebecca to consider the space in which she wanted to place the sculpture. The reception area of her home was spacious and flooded with light and was the perfect place to display a large, indoor sculpture.
We then chatted about her relatives and the colours and motifs that would symbolise their lives in a simple, abstract way.
The design gradually developed through several drafts, with Rebecca involved at each stage. Once the final design was approved, the work could begin. After several months of blowing and polishing the glass; carving the stone elements and making a bespoke plinth to tie in with the existing décor, the memorial sculpture was ready for installation by our professional team.
Rebecca was absolutely thrilled with the result and so were we. She said it has opened up a wonderful dialogue with her children and other members of the family about the lives of the relatives it commemorates and celebrates and is a beautiful, uplifting reminder of them.
